Tees sports stars meet Lord Coe

Students of Tees Active Sports Academy got to meet Lord Coe, chair of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games, last month, when he toured sporting facilities in Teeside.

Richard Kilty (Athletics), Chris Wilkinson (Biathlon), Jimmy Moutrey (Ice Hockey) and Marcus Sudron (Olympic Wrestling) were all introduced to double Olympic Champion Lord Coe as he visited Teesside University and in particular the Teesside Sports Injury Centre.

Lord Coe was introduced to the athletes who benefit from treatment provided by the centre.

Steve Smelt, programme leader for sports therapy at Teesside University, said: "It was great that Lord Coe has visited the North East and saw first hand that sporting talent from the North East will be integral to providing sportingsuccess for the 2012 Olympics.

"Teesside Sports Injury Centre and Tees Active Sports Academy have both been established to provide a first class support service to our most talented athletes."
