UK awarding body Edexcel and Central YMCA Qualifictions (CYQ) have reached an agreement to mutually recognise prior achievement of students to give them the potential to qualify more quickly by avoiding duplication of learning.
The move will benefit those students undertaking Edexcel's Level 3 BTEC Nationals in Sport and Exercise Sciences, or Central YMCA Qualifications (CYQ) Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing qualification.
It will also improve employment opportunities in the sector for BTEC students as they gain an additional health
and fitness industry recognised qualification.
Students achieving passes in the right combination of units of the Level 3 BTEC Nationals in Sport _and Exercise Sciences will now only need to undertake the practical assessment for the CYQ Level 2 qualification, bypassing the exercise and fitness knowledge theory assessment.
Conversely, CYQ _candidates can use their theory assessment achievement as evidence towards Level 3 BTEC Nationals.
