| English Heritage has announced a three-month public consultation to finalise revised plans for the future of Stonehenge in Wiltshire.
The review of the Stonehenge World Heritage Site Management Plan followed the government's decision to cancel plans for a 2.1km tunnel to house the A303 road, which in turn made planning permission for a visitor centre and access scheme invalid.
English Heritage, on behalf of the DCMS, has worked with partners including the National Trust to revise environmental improvements and a new access and road improvement scheme. The plans will also propose new locations for the visitor centre, designed by architects Denton Corker Marshall, which is intended to be open to the public by 2012.
The public consultation will begin 15 July. |
