Trust plans visitor facilities after acquiring Skokholm Lighthouse

The Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales is planning to create new visitor facilities on Skokholm Island after completing the acquisition of its lighthouse and surrounding land.

A £250,000 appeal launched by the trust in late 2011 raised £150,000 within four months, but a further £100,000 is still required to convert the lighthouse into accommodation.

Following the acquisition of the lighthouse from Trinity, the trust also aims to reinstate the bird observatory on the island - one of the most important sea bird colonies in the world.
