One of Finland’s largest theme parks has announced plans to bring Premier Rides’ Sky Rocket II steel rollercoaster to the park as one of its signature new attractions.
The ride, which first appeared at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom under Superman branding, will now come to Särkänniemi in Tampere as “Hype”.
Reaching heights of nearly 150ft (45.8m) and speeds of up to 62mph (100kmph), the ride will be the park’s tallest and fastest, and second-tallest and third-fastest coaster in the country when it opens in June.
The ride is a launch coaster, which goes halfway up a vertical spike and then stalls, going backwards through a non-inverted loop. It then does a full-power launch up into a slow in-line twist followed by a twisted vertical drop into a non-inverted loop. It travels through the station and launches up the vertical spike for a final time before the ride ends.
Hype will be the park’s sixth coaster, opening in 2017 ahead of SeaWorld San Diego’s own version – Electric Eel – which launches in 2018.
