Xponential Fitness has acquired Body Fit Training in a deal worth US$44m.

The deal takes the number of studios open – or contracted to open – across the Xponential Fitness estate outside of North America to 1,000.

The Australia-based functional fitness operator becomes the 10th brand in Xponential's portfolio of franchised fitness businesses.

Body Fit Training currently has nearly 130 franchised studios across Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore.

There are a further 150 studios previously sold and contractually obligated to open across the Asia Pacific region within the next 12 months.

Founded in 2017, Body Fit Training offers community-based, 50-minute functional, high-energy strength, cardio, and conditioning-based classes across 13 workout programmes.

Anthony Geisler, CEO of Xponential Fitness, said: "We see significant opportunities to expand BFT’s existing studio base both in the US and internationally and look forward to the brand’s continued success.

"We will leverage the Xponential playbook to provide Body Fit Training robust franchisee support and access to best practices to generate synergies across our entire portfolio."

Xponential completed an initial public offering (IPO) on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) on 23 July.

The company's portfolio of brands now includes Club Pilates, CycleBar, StretchLab, Row House, AKT, YogaSix, Pure Barre, STRIDE, Rumble and Body Fit Training.

Xponential is the second fitness brand to breach the 1,000-club mark recently, following Basic-Fit’s announcement that it has opened its 1,000th site in Tilburg in the Netherlands. Basic-Fit is an owner-operator, while Xponential is a franchise business.
