RSG Group has opened a new, flagship John Reed health club in the German capital Berlin.
Located in the city's Prenzlauer Berg district, the high-end John Reed Berlin Bötzow club is housed in the historic, listed Bötzow Brewery building.
Spread across 3,136sq m, the club features cardio zones, a free weight area, an "equipment park" and a wide range of fitness programming, including reformer Pilates, treadmill classes and functional and group workouts.
Members also have the option of booking body check-ups, nutrition coaching and personal training.
Wet areas include ladies' and men's saunas, a 20m pool and spa pools – some of which are located in the former brewery's old, repurposed cooling pools.
The pools are among the unique features of the brick building, which also features 7m-high domed ceilings.
The architectural aspects of the historic site were given special consideration and highlighted in the design of the health club – an example being the installation of bespoke lighting solutions to show off the brewery's vaults.
In keeping with the ethos of John Reed clubs mixing fitness with culture, the Berlin club will also feature regularly changing art exhibitions.
John Reed is among a number of businesses to open at the 24,000sq m former Bötzow brewery site, which is being transformed into a new meeting place for Berlin.
The redevelopment project is being planned and designed by David Chipperfield Architects Berlin and is being completed in phases, with the last areas set to open at the end of 2024 or beginning of 2025.
the new John Reed flagship opening follows the launch of RDG’s vast Gold’s Gym flagship in the city in 2021.
John Reed is one 15 fitness, wellness, art and lifestyle brands operated by RSG Group.
Founded in 1997 by the late Rainer Schaller, RSG Group currently employs 10,000 in more than 30 countries.
